Chandigarh 17 May (Harbans Singh)
Addressing election rallies in Chandigarh today, Manish Tiwari, candidate of the India Alliance from the parliamentary constituency, has thanked Bharatiya Janata Party's rival candidate Sanjay Tandon for humbly accepting defeat in 2024 and focusing on 2029.
On this occasion, Tiwari assured his BJP opponent that he will always be with him. "Don't worry, I will be in Chandigarh, serving my motherland till 2029 and beyond and by then you might have packed your things and gone back to Amritsar, where you were born," he said.
Addressing election rallies in different parts of the city here, the senior Congress leader said that the entire country is trending in favor of Congress and the government of India is going to be formed after the elections.
He said that Tandon's entry confirms the bitter truth that after four phases of elections, the BJP is badly lagging behind the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that there is no way out for the BJP now and Tandon knows very well that Chandigarh cannot be an exception and hence he has accepted it with great grace.
Earlier in the day, Tiwari met a delegation of lecturers, who raised various issues including regularisation. Tiwari told the delegation that regularization is one of the major agendas in the party's manifesto.
He said that the Congress party is doing away with contract and temporary appointments and all appointments will be regular and pensionable.
Responding to the long-pending demand for regularization of resettlement colonies, Tiwari agreed with the residents that this should have happened long ago. He assured the residents of these colonies that their colonies will be regularized on priority basis.
