Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a one day national symposium on the topic Recent Advances in Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry on April 20, 2024(RABMC-2024).The symposium was jointly organized in collaboration with the eight premier institutes of Chandigarh region coming under the umbrella of CRIKC.
Dr. Deepak B Salunke, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Convener, welcomed the audience and Prof. P. V. Bharatam, NIPER Mohali put a light on the theme of the symposium. Prof. Dulal Panda, Director Niper Mohali, Prof. Baljinder Singh, PGIMER Chandigarh, Prof. Y. P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University inaugurated the symposium. The symposium began with a discussion on “Developing effective collaboration between chemistry and biology research groups” among the CRIKC institute’s delegates. Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director IIT Ropar also joined the meeting to address the participants. In the symposium, seven invited lectures were delivered by the eminent scientists. Total 200participants including faculties, research scholars and students participated and showcased their research in the form of oral and poster presentations. The symposium was concluded with a valedictory address by Prof. K. K. Bhasin and Prof. S. S. Bari, eminent senior professors of the Department of Chemistry, PU, Chandigarh. Two best oral and three best poster awards were given with cash prize of Rs. 2500/-each sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Dr. Subash Sahoo and Dr. Ramesh Kataria of the Department of Chemistry presented a vote of thank.
