CHANDIGARH, October 23(Harbans Singh)

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asked the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab whether it would be paying the Rs one thousand monthly stipend to women along with the arrears of the last four years.
In a statement issued here today, Warring referred to the reports that the AAP government was planning to provide Rs one thousand monthly stipend to women of Punjab from the next year. He said, women were already feeling cheated and deceived all these years.
He pointed out, almost four years have passed since the AAP formed the government. “When the government is at the fag end of its term now, it has reportedly woken to its long forgotten promise to women of Punjab”, he noted, while adding, by the time the scheme is implemented, the AAP may not be left with much time.
The AAP is morally bound to pay the arrears to the women who voted for the party because of the Rs one thousand monthly stipend promise. “That is what the women of Punjab expect of you”, he told the government, while remarking, if the government thinks that it can again fool the people of the state, particularly the women, by offering peanuts at the fag end of its term, it is badly mistaken.
