In a significant political development, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party joined Punjab Congress today.
Dr. Naresh Chauhan, Ex-SMO Khamano and former Doctor Cell Chairman from the BJP, along with key leaders including Harjinder Kaur, Parmjeet Singh, Barkat Ali, Rajan Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Gurcharan Singh, Narinder Kumar, Malagar Singh, and Gagan Singh Ratton, officially joined the Punjab Congress in the presence of former Cabinet Minister Randeep Singh Nabha. These leaders were warmly welcomed into the Congress fold in a press conference marking yet another setback for the BJP in Punjab.
Speaking to the media, Randeep Singh Nabha highlighted that the leaders decided to switch due to a lack of representation within the BJP. “The BJP has consistently worked against the interests of Punjab and its people. This has compelled many leaders to join the Congress, which has always been the voice of Punjab. With rumours swirling about the resignation of BJP President Sunil Jakhar, it is evident that if the BJP can treat its senior leaders with such disregard, the common people stand no chance under its leadership,” said Nabha.
He also took the opportunity to criticize the Aam Aadmi Party, stating, “A government formed by telling jokes had to witness a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress is ready and growing in strength to show them another defeat in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in 2027.”
On behalf of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and the entire party, Randeep Singh Nabha extended a warm welcome to the new leaders, reaffirming the Congress’s commitment to working for the people of Punjab.
This wave of leadership joining Congress signals the growing discontent within the ranks of BJP, while Congress continues to build momentum in the state.
