Chandigarh ,July 8 (Harbans Singh)

Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, referring to the recent murder of Sanjay Verma, stated during the “Funeral Procession of Law and Order in Punjab” protest organized here that if any trader receives a ransom call from gangsters, they would now consider complying rather than relying on the government, believing it to be safer for their family. He said that people has lost faith in this state govt and have total disdain for its false claims and promises. Punjabis are increasingly feeling the need for a crime-free state like Uttar Pradesh.

Despite the scorching heat and humidity, thousands gathered at Bhagat Singh Chowk for over an hour, raising slogans against the state government.
Jakhar said that today, it is not just Sanjay Verma’s funeral pyre but that of Punjab’s law and order. The daylight shooting incident has not only alarmed local traders but also sounded a warning bell for surrounding areas. He criticized the leaders who, after assuming power in Punjab, visited Khatkar Kalan to pay homage at Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s memorial and promised to eradicate drugs and crime forever. Under their rule, drugs have spread to every household, and four major shooting incidents have occurred in recently in as many days.

He further stated that all claims of guiding Punjab’s youth in the right direction have failed. Youngsters, lured by gangsters and trapped in the abyss of drugs, are roaming with weapons, raising questions about their future and that of their families.
Jakhar urged the youth to reflect on whether they want to earn money through violence and risk or build a bright future by walking the right path.

He emphasized that instead of adopting the failed models of Delhi’s leaders, the Punjab government must strictly curb the gangster culture. At the same time, concrete efforts are needed to channel the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
