Expressing deep sorrow on the suicide of farmer Jaswinder Singh of district Sangrur owing to high debt and inordinate delay in procuring paddy on MSP in the mandi, the Bharatiya Janata Party state chief Sunil Jakhar said that the Aam Aadmi Party has miserably failed in Punjab.

In a press statement issued here, Sunil Jakhar stated that the failure of the Punjab government has led to harassment of farmers in grain markets.

Suggesting Arvind Kejriwal, who is visiting Punjab, to guide its party in running the state instead of being a guide to panches and sarpanches only. Taking a jab at Kejriwal he added that the wrong policies of the Punjab government have driven the state’s farmers to commit suicide for not being able to sell their produce.

Reminding Kejriwal of his promise, that no farmer in state shall commit suicide once AAP comes to power, Jakhar stated that the present situation was just reversed. He called upon Kejrwail to ensure that the government should focus on people’s issues instead of concentrating on publicity.

He added that lack of timely planning has plunged the state’s farmers into distress.
