TARN TARAN, October 15 (Harbans Singh)
The Congress presented a grand show of unity today, as the party candidate for Tarn Taran assembly by-election filed his nomination papers. Entire senior leadership of the party was present on the occasion.
Tens of thousands of Congress workers today participated in the grand roadshow ahead of the party candidate Karanbir Singh Burj filing his nomination papers for the November 11 by-election here today.

The party leaders recalled the services of Burj’s family to the Sikh panth. His grandfather Jawahar Singh was the ‘Mukh Sewadar’ of Durbar Sahib, before the SGPC took over. He would go on his bicycle from his village to Durbar Sahib along with his own food from home to serve in the Durbar Sahib.
The Congress leaders said, with such a religious family tradition dedicated to serving the Sikh religion and Durbar Sahib, Burj was the best candidate to represent the holy place like Tarn Taran.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupesh Bhagel called upon the party workers to fight the elections with full dedication and commitment. He pointed out, the AAP had fielded a turncoat who had changed so many parties, while the Akalis could not find a candidate and had to field someone who is dependent on criminals and gangsters. He said another candidate did not even believe in the constitution of the country.
Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa warned against the return of dark days in Punjab when nobody felt safe and secure. He said even today, nobody was feeling safe in Punjab, particularly along the border belt.
