The Department of Mass Communication at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, celebrated World Photography Day with an inter-college Photography Competition. Keeping in view the theme of World Photography Day 2024 i.e. ‘An Entire Day’, this competition had ‘An Entire Day in Chandigarh’ as its theme. The goal of the competition was to capture as many different aspects of what happens around Chandigarh in one day, from as many points of view as possible. An overwhelming number of entries were received depicting the theme in a befitting manner and showcasing the participants’ photography skills. The creativity of the participants reflected through their entries as they captured the distinct essence of City Beautiful, from it’s peaceful side to the daily humdrum, from the iconic places to the inconspicuous locations, and much more. The winners were awarded cash prizes.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, an avid photographer herself, asserted that photography is an art form that preserves time and moments to tell stories of the world around us. Lauding the initiatives of the Mass Communication Department aiming at ensuring holistic development of students and equipping them with requisite skills in the field, she said that it is a matter of pride that the college features among the top Mass Communication institutions of the country in various prestigious ranking surveys.

3rd: Gundeep Singh (SGGS College-26)
