Chandigarh, October 24 ( Harbans Singh )
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State General Secretary Parminder Singh Brar raised serious questions over the Punjab Government and the Police Department regarding the viral video of the Chief Minister.
Addressing a press conference at the party hqr in Chandigarh today, he said that since this issue has become a topic of discussion across Punjab, an impartial outcome cannot be expected if the investigation is carried out by the Punjab Police.
In the presence of Punjab BJP’s State Media Head Vineet Joshi, Brar stated clearly that the Punjab Police functions under the Home Department, which is headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. In such a situation, the possibility of a fair and just investigation is very low. He demanded that the case be handed over to a sitting judge of the Supreme Court or the Punjab and Haryana High Court, so that the complete truth can come out and public trust can be restored.
Brar revealed that during Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s foreign tours, Jagman Samra played an active role.
Issuing a challenge, Barar said that if the Chief Minister has full confidence in his own integrity, he should voluntarily undergo a polygraph test (lie detector test). This step would reflect his honesty and transparency. He added that due to corruption and political pressure, several cases in Punjab are often suppressed.
He said the present government has failed to fulfill the promises made to the people, and even the administrative system has now lost its transparency.
The people of Punjab now want to know the truth, and if the government is truly honest, it should not fear any impartial investigation.
Brar concluded by saying that since this matter involves the Chief Minister of a state, if the investigation is conducted fairly, the truth will automatically come to light.
