Chandigarh ,July 18 (Harbans Singh)

Sardar Jagmohan Singh Raju ji, General Secretary of BJP Punjab, today issued a scathing critique of the newly introduced “Punjab Prevention of Offences Against Holy Scripture(s) Bill, 2025,” labeling it a “purely Toothless bill of non serious government which is an illusionary and Anti – Dalit bill.”

By not including provisions for punishment against disrespect towards the idols and Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji (Amritbani), Bhagwan Valmiki Ji, Sant Kabir Ji, and Sant Nabhadas Ji in the bill presented in the Assembly, the government has revealed its discriminatory and hateful mindset towards the Dalit community.

“For years, the people of Punjab have suffered the pain and anguish of sacrilege incidents, particularly against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They have yearned for genuine justice and a law that truly deters such heinous acts,” stated Sardar Raju ji. “What this government has presented is nothing but eyewash, a hollow promise wrapped in legal jargon, designed to mislead the public rather than deliver justice.”

He added that the bill was not well thought because bill attempted to equate the reverence accorded to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, a living Guru for Sikhs, with other scriptures, while seemingly inclusive, overlooks the unique and profound spiritual significance held by the Sikh community. This subtle dilution of focus could itself be seen as insensitive to Sikh sentiments.”

Sardar Raju ji emphasized that the BJP Punjab stands committed to ensuring true justice for all sacrilege incidents and demands a robust, unambiguous, and enforceable law that brings perpetrators to justice without delay.
