Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, joined MLA candidate Amrita Warring in a powerful campaign across Gidderbaha, launching a sharp critique against the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for abandoning Punjab’s farmers and allowing their hard-earned produce to rot in the grain markets. Addressing the masses, both leaders condemned the Punjab government’s indifference towards the plight of farmers, who have been waiting in the mandis for over 20 days with no signs of crop procurement—a situation they argued is ruining both their produce and their festive season.
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring took a firm stand, stating, “The Punjab government’s failure to procure grains in time has not only devastated the livelihoods of our farmers but has also tainted the spirit of Punjab’s traditions and festivals. First, it was the BJP government that caused the tragic loss of over 750 farmers at Delhi’s borders. Now, the AAP government is perpetuating that same anti-farmer agenda right here in Punjab, hand-in-hand with the BJP. The Aam Aadmi Party’s negligence is destroying the backbone of Punjab’s agriculture.”
Adding to the farmers’ troubles, Raja Warring highlighted that the AAP government has failed to supply essential DAP fertilizer on time, which is crucial for the upcoming Rabi crop. “Without timely access to DAP fertilizer, our farmers are being deliberately pushed to the edge, struggling not only with unprocured crops but also with a shortage of necessary resources to prepare for the next season,” he asserted.
Amrita Warring echoed these sentiments, highlighting the grave threat this situation poses to the future of Punjab’s agriculture. She said, “The crops are sitting vulnerable to the elements in the mandis; one rain, and the harvest our farmers worked so hard to yield will be ruined. AAP government’s refusal to act has left our farmers abandoned. CM Mann’s government is supposed to protect Punjab’s agrarian economy, not jeopardize it.” She emphasized that the Congress, even during the pandemic, ensured timely procurement of grains and acted in the interests of Punjab’s farming community, unlike the current administration, which appears intent on undermining farmers’ livelihoods.
Urging the people of Punjab to support the Congress in the upcoming by-elections, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring called for unity against the AAP-BJP alliance that he claims is ravaging Punjab’s agrarian economy. “It’s time for Punjab to show Bhagwant Mann and his government the door. We cannot let them play with our future and dismantle our agricultural heritage,” he asserted.
Amrita Warring made an extensive round of campaign today, connecting with the people in Karniwala, Karaiwala, Baddian, Bhundar, Lundewala, Madhir, and Gidderbaha City. Meanwhile, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring covered key areas of Gidderbaha City, including Ward Nos. 7, 9, and 13, rallying voters to stand with the Congress and protect Punjab’s farmers from the ongoing neglect by the AAP government.
