In a show of support for the struggling teachers and frustrated citizens of Punjab, Amrita Warring, MLA Candidate from Gidderbaha for the Indian National Congress, and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament from Ludhiana led a vigorous campaign trail in Gidderbaha ahead of the by-elections. The two leaders condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for its failure to fulfill basic promises, especially in education—a sector they had vowed to revolutionize.

During a day of intensive campaigning across Gidderbaha city and nearby villages, PPCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring launched a scathing attack on the AAP government and CM Bhagwant Mann. He lambasted the party’s empty promises, stating, “The Aam Aadmi Party, which won Punjab on the back of their so-called ‘education revolution,’ has betrayed the state’s faith. While they might have tried something in Delhi, here in Punjab, they have completely dismantled our education system, leaving teachers to fight for their basic rights and positions.” He emphasized that under the Congress-led government, Punjab had achieved the highest national ranking in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) of school education for 2020-21. “Today, this government has destroyed what we had worked so hard to build,” he continued, “and instead of progress, they have left teachers protesting on streets, battling for appointment letters that Congress had promised.”

Campaigning parallelly in Hari Ke Kalan, Gidderbaha City, Peori, Daula, and Kotbhai, Amrita Warring echoed the similar sentiments, sharply criticizing AAP’s neglect. She shared, “For the past two and a half years, AAP has failed Punjab’s teachers and students. They took over recruitment drives that our government initiated, only to turn them into broken promises. The current administration should be ashamed that teachers have had to protest in front of the DPI office, even climbing water tanks and enduring the scorching sun and biting cold, only to face apathy from this government.”

The campaign trail saw the leaders visit various wards in Gidderbaha city, including Wards 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 15, where they engaged directly with residents about the failed promises of the AAP government. Raja Warring remarked, “AAP’s governance in Punjab has been nothing but empty slogans and hollow promises. Where is the improvement they promised? They were elected to uplift Punjab, but what have they delivered? In place of reforms, they’ve handed our educators delays, discrimination, and despair.”

Adding to the criticism, Amrita Warring urged the people of Gidderbaha to hold the government accountable for its negligence. “AAP came to power claiming they’d revolutionize education, yet look at what they’ve done. Schools still operate with minimal staff; teachers who were promised positions remain unemployed, and the few who are employed are forced to handle entire schools on their own. This government must be shown the door for these inadequacies,” she asserted, rallying support from the gathered crowds.

The PPCC Chief and MLA Candidate Amrita Warring called upon the people to unite against what they described as the “mockery of governance” by AAP, appealing for a strong mandate in the upcoming by-elections to restore accountability and development in Punjab.
